Program Summary
This program explores the ethical challenges facing attorneys and law firms as AI tools become increasingly common (and useful). Opening with a crash course on the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and AI adoption trends in the legal community, we will evaluate seven landmark cases involving AI-related misconduct from across the country and analyze recent guidance from the ABA, state bar associations, and courts that establishes the beginnings of a framework for ethical AI use. Rather than simply identifying risks, this program will share actionable implementation strategies that help participants develop and mature their own AI governance systems. In an environment where “the buck stops with you,” this CLE equips lawyers to use AI tools ethically and effectively.

His work focuses on artificial intelligence, global privacy compliance, corporate social responsibility, and post-market drug surveillance. Ben is also the Senior Fellow for Artificial Intelligence at the Lawyers’ Committee for Cultural Heritage Preservation and serves on the Editorial Board for The Federal Lawyer, the board of the Federal Bar Association’s Section on Civil Rights, the BHBIA’s Ethics and Compliance Committee, ESOMAR’s AI Task Force Coordinating Committee, Intellus’ Data Integrity and Artificial Intelligence Task Force, and the Insights Association’s Standards Committee. He is a graduate of Tulane University Law School, the A.B. Freeman School of Business, and Washington College.
