Program Summary

This program will cover often overlooked, misunderstood, or particularly challenging aspects in navigating employer responsibilities under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Given the complexities and nuances of these laws, even the most seasoned practitioner may inadvertently encounter certain pitfalls when counseling clients on leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations. This 2-hour session will address several of these key risk areas, with a focus on issue spotting, real-life examples, and best practice tips.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • The interplay of FMLA and ADA reasonable accommodation obligations
  • Common mistakes when calculating and designating FMLA leave (and how to avoid them)
  • Leave and accommodation issues unique to the hybrid/remote workforce
  • Employee mental health and the workplace
  • The importance of policies and processes when addressing leave of absence accommodation requests

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.
